Inspiration Post: Living Room
Since we've been writing a lot about reality here on the blog, I thought I'd post some inspiration for a change of pace.
Our living room has three pieces of furniture we love, but everything else is a hand-me-down including:
- A chair and ottoman that was left in the house when we bought it (yep)
- My parent's old leather loveseat that has a stick-on patch we bought on Amazon
- Pat's parents' old furniture that they used when their dog was a puppy so she wouldn't chew up the good furniture
A couple of twenty-somethings with crappy furnishings and zero style: cool, right? Seriously, though. This is not the blog that shows off our perfect home. This is the blog that shows all the legwork that goes into creating a home. I wish we had a perfect, Instagram-able home right off the bat, but really ... what would be the fun in that?
Anyway: we didn't invest in any pieces because we weren't sure what kind of place we would live in. We figured the money was better off saved up for a home.
Now that we have a home, we're having fun trying to figure out what direction we want to go in. Here are some interior designs and styles that both of us like.
What can we say: we're suckers for white walls, modern design, natural materials, and moody colors.
I'm also super inspired by this stained door transformation / tutorial from Reality Daydream. I'm hoping to eventually strip and stain all of the doors in the house, and these before and after pictures are good motivators.
