Holy shit, we're back!

Holy shit, we're back!

Long time, no see. We had a nice long hiatus from the blog this spring and summer, although I did post to our Instagram a couple times - the intro image to this blog is from our honeymoon.

Since we've been gone, we worked on a few projects and did a couple other things. Some projects will get a future post, but others will just be mentioned here since there's not much to tell. Here's a quick rundown ...

New floors

Our staircase and upstairs wood floors were quite a mess when we bought our house. In March the floors were refinished by Mike, a guy who knew what he was doing and could get it done in a few days.

We could have DIY'd it, but it was a big job. Since the floors and stairs needed a complete re-sanding and refinishing, we left it to a professional.

A new fireplace

Even though I have not touched the brick fireplace in months, Pat went ahead and installed a wood burning stove and chimney liner. It looks beautiful and makes the living room feel so cozy. I'll talk about that more in a future post. (Update: we wrote the post! Read it here.)

A fresh bedroom

Before the floors were refinished, we painted our bedroom. We took it from lime green to clean white, and Pat did some wall repairs, too. I'll detail that in a future post. (Update: we wrote the post! Read it here.)

One nearly finished room

In case you haven't noticed a pattern, Pat does most of the work here and I just document it. It's a running joke between us that I should just call this blog "Pat Does Stuff." Anyway.

The only room we consider nearly compete is our dining room. We took it from dark and dingy to bright and kind of boho. You guessed it: I'll talk more about it in a future post. (Update: we wrote the post! Read it here.)

Minor details

This summer, we got married and went on a honeymoon and adopted two kittens! Hence the hiatus. We were engaged and married within 11 months - it was a bit of a sprint because we didn't want a long engagement. We have other things to do, you know?

I posted a few pictures from the honeymoon on my personal Instagram if you want to take a look, but for the most part, we're keeping the majority of the pictures to ourselves.

That's it for now! If you've read this far: thanks for sticking with us! There will be more to come soon.
